Don’t worry, this T Rex craft for kids is not scary. His full name is Tyrannosaurus Rex, but you can call him Rexie.
In most of the shows that I have seen, the Tyrannosaurus Rex were either eating people or other dinosaurs. I have only seen a few where the dinosaur was friendly.
Scientists say that these giants were either meat eaters or scavengers. Who knows? They could have been helpful in the time that they lived in. The one that you are going to make is a cute, little, good dinosaur.
(In Ancient Greek, Tyrannosaurus means "tyrant lizard". In Latin, Rex means “King”. So he was a tyrant lizard king).
Cut two pieces of brown paper, 2 by 3 1/2 inches. Wrap it around one of your paper cups, glue. Also glue a brown circle on the bottom of your cup. Do the same for the other cup.
(A T. rex in can be up to 40 feet in length and could weigh up to 7.5 short tons)
Take one of your cups and cut two triangle shapes on the sides. With four small pieces of white paper cut zigzags with a rectangular base about 1/4 inch tall. Color with a gray marker and glue to the sides of the mouth.
(Ouch! I won’t want to be a dentist if I had to deal with that guy when he gets a toothache!)
On the sides of the head, make eyes with a black marker.
Take your other cup and make a small hole in the bottom with your pushpin. Also make a hole in the side of your T Rex’s head.
(They say that they had small brains… But what if they were smart?).
Thread a 2-inch piece of pipe cleaner through the hole in the bottom piece and the T. rex’s head. Make part of the pipe cleaner that is now in the mouth stick up a little to make a tongue (Roar!!!). Attach it to the other cup and twist.
Make your T Rex’s hands out of black paper. Glue to the side of the cup.
(The Tyrannosaurus Rex has small arms with three fingers.)
Your T Rex craft for kids is finished. Now it can roam the ancient forests and jungles. Only in this age, the other dinosaurs aren’t afraid of him…. He is afraid of the others.
