The Sodom and Gomorrah Bible crafts take place after the three men came to tell Abraham that he will have a son.
You will find crafts for the destruction of the city and Lot's wife turning into a pillar of salt.
The Lord also told Abraham that He planned to destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham asks the Lord if they would destroy the city for fifty righteous men. God says that he would not destroy the city if there were fifty righteous men. Abraham continues to ask until he brings it down to ten men. God tells Abraham that He would not destroy the city if there were ten righteous men found.
Then two angels visited Lot and told him to leave with his wife, daughters, and sons-in-law. The sons-in-law did not believe Lot, so they stayed in the city. Lot left with his wife and daughters. Genesis 18:22-33 and Genesis 19:1, 12, 14-16.
Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven, Genesis 19:24 KJV
Cut a 6 by 2-inch rectangle from brown paper. Also, cut a 3 by 2-inch rectangle from brown paper.
Place the smaller rectangle in the center of the larger one. It also needs to be about 1 1/2 inches from the bottom of the larger rectangle. Glue in place.
Glue the two rectangles to the background piece. Make sure that the corners are glued down.
Place the picture in the box. Add yellow paint to a top corner and orange paint to the other corner.
Add the marbles to the paint. Gently tip your box from side to side, keeping the marbles in the box. Let your picture dry.
The color of the background may change the color of the paint. The yellow paint will look green on a blue background.
After your picture has dried, you can go over with the sides of a gray crayon to represent smoke.
But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. Genesis 19:26 KJV
Here are two Sodom and Gomorrah Bible crafts that use salt.
Draw a paper doll 3 by 1 inch. A simple circle for the head and a triangle for the body will do.
If you want arms, start at the neck and draw an angled line 1 inch long and not too wide, connecting it to the triangle.
Cut your shape out.
With markers, add eyes, hair, and a mouth. Color the triangle to make a dress. You can also color the backside of the doll.
Put some rock salt on a paper plate.
Turn your picture over and add a generous amount of white glue. Dip the glue in the rock salt. Press down so that the salt sticks.
This one is not messy at all. You can mix up the dough in front of your class. Then give some dough to each student, so they can make Lot's wife.
Use two parts flour, one part salt, and one part water. 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 cup salt, and 1/4 cup water make about seven 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 inch cookies.
Pat the dough flat like how you would make sugar cookies. It needs to be thin but not too thin, maybe about 1/8 inch thick.
Use the cookie-cutter to make a doll. Push the arms and head near the body.
You can dry your decoration in the microwave for 10-second intervals. Use a spatula to turn your salt doll over after each 10-second interval.
Watch carefully so you don't burn your decoration. Also, let your salt doll cool. It will be very hot coming out of the microwave.
I have also read that you can use a 150-degree oven. Turn your creation over frequently, so it will dry out evenly. How long you need to cook depends on the thickness of your creation.
Or you could leave the items out in a warm room to dry. Drying at room temperature will take more than 24 hours.
Keep the salt dough recipe. It makes great Christmas ornaments and other keepsakes.
In the morning,
(And) he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace. Genesis 19:27-28
With the side of a gray and black crayon, color spirals for the smoke rising from the city.
Cut a 9 by 1 1/2 inch and an 8 by 1 1/2 inch strip from black paper.
Cut an 8 by 2 1/2 inch rectangle from orange paper.
Cut flames.
Line the bottom of the flames with the edge of the small strip of black paper. Glue the strips together.
Place the larger black strip to the front, but don't line the bottom edges. You will want this strip to be below the other black strip by about 1/2 of an inch.
Glue the flames to the bottom of the picture.
Even though the Sodom and Gomorrah Bible crafts are about destroying a city, remember that the Lord came and saved the righteous who lived there.
