I Love You Magnet

a magnet for mom

Craft foam is easy to find. Look for it in stores that sell craft supplies.

You will need;

  • Craft foam in two colors
  • Child’s photograph
  • Glue
  • Magnet
foam heart and letters

Cut a capital “I”, “U”, and heart out of craft foam. My letters are 3/4 inches by 1 1/2. I used a 1 3/4 by 1 1/4 inch square for the heart.

Cut the center out of the heart. You will also need to cut a piece of foam 3 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches for the background.

Place a magnet strip on the background.

find picture to put under heart

Next find a picture that will fit in the center of the heart. Instead of cutting the picture I scanned it and then printed it on copy paper.

cut out picture

Cut out enough of the picture to fit under the heart.

glue picture to heart

Glue the heart around the picture. Use just small dots of glue.

finished I love You

Glue the “I” on the background piece. Then place the heart. Last glue the “U” to the end. Trim the edges if you have extra background.

Place a heavy book on top and let dry overnight.

Keepsake Handprint

give mom a handprint and poem for Mother's Day

Every mom likes to have a special handprint of their child. But, they don’t like to see prints on the wall, windows, or mirrors.

For this craft you will need;

  • Washable paint
  • Construction paper
  • Paper plate
  • Newspaper
  • Picture frame (optional)

Cover your work surface with newspaper.

Place a glob of your mom’s favorite color of paint on a paper plate. Place one of your hands in the paint.

Now make a handprint on the construction paper. You can also make some finger prints on the paper if you want too.

Let your master piece dry overnight. The next morning print out this poem;

I like to leave my print for you to find,
On the wall, window, I thought you wouldn’t mind,
Yet, you wash them away,
I wanted them to stay,
So, I thought I would be kind,
I made one that you won’t have to find.

Tip: Leave plenty of time for your dish to dry. On the air dry clay package, it says that it drys to touch overnight and will dry completely in 72 hours depending on the thickness of the project.
